#12: The Roadside Conundrum and Artistic Choices
This particular scenario strikes a chord of daily anxiety in my life, and I have a sneaking suspicion that I’m not alone in experiencing it. If you were to swap out the pedestrian for a small coupe in front of my rather large van, you’d have a recipe for frequent honking and exasperated drivers. To alleviate this issue, my little hometown has embraced the construction of roundabouts at various intersections. Adjusting to these circular traffic arrangements has taken some time, but they have a positive impact.
The stark contrast in artistic detail adds an element of whimsy to this chart. While the trees and cars are intricately rendered, the pedestrian is portrayed as an enigmatic void or a featureless blob while crossing the street. It’s intriguing to ponder why such meticulous attention was given to the leaves and shadows only to treat the human element minimally. Perhaps there’s a profound lesson hidden within this artistic juxtaposition, though I must admit, the precise nature of that lesson eludes me.
