#15: The Parental Inquisition
This scenario seems to be a universal phenomenon. I thought I was alone in having a nosy mom and a dad who preferred to take a backseat while she extracted all the information. It’s not that dads lack interest; I suspect they’re simply trying to avoid hearing the same narrative twice – once from us and then again from our moms during dinner!
Also, why do moms always seem to pose the big questions? Why not ask about my breakfast choices or my latest favorite book? Maybe I should turn the tables and ask her about her marital status and plans once she reaches a nursing home. That might render her speechless for at least a week, don’t you think?
