#22: The Longing for Shorter Workweeks
After enduring five consecutive days at work, it’s common for everyone to feel drained. Some companies have begun experimenting with shorter workweeks, condensing the traditional 40-hour workweek into four ten-hour days from Monday through Thursday. The idea is undeniably brilliant, even though Fridays might effectively become the new Thursdays, with productivity waning as the day progresses.
This shift grants employees an extra day off, reduces commute times, and boosts overall productivity and employee morale. According to Newsweek, some pioneering companies adopting this model include Awin, Basecamp, Bit.io, Bolt, and the Boulder County, Colorado Clerk and Recorder offices.
