#3: Batman: Names
Batman is an interesting character in that he can be very different depending on who’s using him in a show or comic. In the 1960s TV show, he is downright goofy. In recent movie iterations, he has been incredibly serious—perhaps to a fault. This fan theorizes that no matter how serious he gets, there is an element of hopefulness that is central to his character.
This idea is quite intriguing! What if Batman’s decision to refrain from fatally shooting his opponents on the spot stems from a deeper, more complex motive? Could it be that within him, there lies a persistent glimmer of hope for their redemption, influencing his actions and guiding his hand away from lethal force? This perspective adds a rich layer of complexity to his character, suggesting that his battle against crime isn’t just physical, but also a struggle of principles and belief in the potential for change in even the darkest of hearts.
