#57: Lion King: The Drought
In The Lion King, Simba returns to the Pride Lands after many years away and is stunned to see that his uncle’s rule has turned the place desolate and barren. Most viewers never give it a second thought, assuming Scar is at fault. This fan theory prompts us to consider: What if Simba, the rightful king, caused the drought by leaving and taking away the rain?
Of course, the more scientific explanation would be that Scar allowed the hyenas to ravage the lands, scaring away all the animals and destroying the ecosystem. But I like the other explanation better. It’s more magical and also ties in with Simba’s character arc better: by choosing to take his rightful place as king, he restores the land in more ways than one.
