#58: Barney’s Character
We already discussed the basic flaw in the popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother: Ted, an unreliable narrator, tells the entire story from his perspective. Here’s another fan who claims that Ted’s narration is unreliable, especially when it comes to Barney’s character.
Ted portrays Barney as some kind of superficial, egoistic womanizer who lacks depth and emotional maturity. As this person points out, he has a very obvious motive to portray him in such a way: to enhance his image. Compared to Barney, Ted comes off as a saint! Maybe Ted is jealous of Barney, hence the unfair depiction.
