Xiaomi has done a few interesting things with the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G design. This is the first Redmi phone to feature a curved display. There aren’t many functional advantages to this design, but it does look quite nice, and since the company is starting to charge a premium for these phones, they may as well look premium.
The back of the phone introduces an intriguing twist, but it’s exclusive to a particular variant. In the case of the Fusion Purple model boasts a vegan leather back. While “vegan leather” may sound sophisticated, it essentially refers to a type of plastic material. Nevertheless, what makes it fascinating is the incorporation of multi-colored geometric segments that evoke the artistic style of the renowned Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, albeit with more subdued and understated hues.
Unfortunately, this interesting design is exclusive to the Fusion Purple model, as the Fusion Black and the Fusion White pictured here feature a plain glass back with minor differences in the material’s reflectivity for the upper and lower portion of the panel. Still, some may prefer the glass back on the black and white models as it feels nicer in hand and will stain less than soft-touch plastic.
Between the two glass panels, the phone is encased by a plastic frame that has been flattened on all four edges. If you possess the skill and patience, you can balance the phone on three sides, which might provide a quirky pastime when you have idle moments.
You’ll find a cutout at the top of the phone that accommodates the loudspeaker, microphones, and an IR blaster. Meanwhile, the bottom of the device houses another speaker, microphone, and SIM tray. On the right side, you’ll locate the power and volume buttons.
In terms of aesthetics, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G undeniably exudes the premium appearance and tactile experience that the company aimed to deliver. However, the incorporation of IP68 dust and water resistance truly elevates its premium status. This places it on the same level as flagship devices from other leading manufacturers, making it an exceptionally valuable feature, particularly for individuals residing or working in demanding weather conditions.
