Scare Tactics
In the gripping horror series The Haunting of Hill House, there’s a scene where two sisters, Shirly and Theo, engage in an argument, completely unaware of a lurking presence in the back seat. As their heated exchange continues, Nell’s ghost suddenly bursts into the foreground, eliciting genuine screams of terror from the actresses.

Despite their acting prowess, these two talented women genuinely conveyed fear in this scene. How did they achieve it, you might wonder? Well, it turns out they weren’t acting. The original script called for more dialogue between the two before Nell’s appearance, but unbeknownst to them, the creator instructed Nell to make her entrance earlier to capture their authentic fear, and it worked.
