Arabian Al-Khali Desert Experiences Rare Flooding Due to Tropical Cyclone
The Rub’ al-Khali, the world’s largest continuous sand desert, covering a third of the Arabian Peninsula, is renowned as one of the driest and most sun-scorched regions globally.

However, in the spring of 2018, a surprising deluge of rainwater transformed the sand dunes into a flooded landscape when Tropical Cyclone Mekunu swept through the desert. Aerial views of these newly showered dunes are simply awe-inspiring.
