Chichen Itza: The Pride of Yucatán State
Chichen Itza, an ancient city built by the Maya civilization in Mexico, was once a thriving hub. Today, although it no longer serves the Maya civilization, it remains a crucial archaeological site, drawing nearly two million tourists annually, thanks to its remarkable architectural and natural wonders.

In the early 1920s, the archaeological site underwent excavation and restoration efforts. However, some argue that the intense tourism is causing more harm than good. The constant influx of visitors around the fragile ruins necessitates ongoing maintenance work, placing the ancient Mayan city at risk of eventual disappearance.
