A Treat in Retrospect
Let’s be candid; most children aren’t mature enough to appreciate thoughtful gifts. During Halloween, their sole focus is amassing as much candy as possible, often overlooking other, more considerate offerings from their neighbors. One individual received a special, handcrafted gift from a kind neighbor but dismissed it in their candy-induced frenzy as a child.

An older gentleman in the neighborhood had dedicated hours to meticulously carving wooden horses for the local kids. Instead of candy, he bestowed these handmade treasures upon them. Unfortunately, most children were ungrateful recipients. In hindsight, the storyteller deeply regrets their youthful lack of appreciation for the kind-hearted gesture of the older man, who truly went above and beyond for the trick-or-treaters.
