Children, for better or worse, have no filter. They speak their minds without considering the consequences, which can be quite liberating—or incredibly embarrassing, especially if you are the child’s parent. This individual grew up in modest circumstances, a situation they accepted without complaint. However, one Halloween, they unintentionally mortified their parents.
During their trick-or-treating expedition, one house in the neighborhood generously handed out quarters to all the children. It’s a pretty nifty trick-or-treat gift, in our opinion. Without thinking, our storyteller blurted out, “Money! We can eat now!” They meant it in jest, but their parents didn’t find it amusing. No parent wants strangers to believe they can’t provide food for their children!
