It might come as a surprise to some that English isn’t widely spoken in every country. I don’t even expect everyone in the U.S. to speak English, so encountering foreign languages when traveling abroad isn’t shocking to me. Hopefully, the airport employee in Shanghai, China, didn’t comprehend the woman’s words.
It’s essential to remember that the airport in Shanghai is not comparable to Walmart, and there’s no requirement for English to be spoken there. The real question is, why visit China if you can’t speak Chinese? Following your reasoning, that should be the expectation, right? I hope she felt some remorse over her behavior, although it’s likely she didn’t.
