#28: The Metric System Mystery
When did the metric system gain a reputation for being deceitful, unethical, and unreliable? My husband works in construction, and many of his AMERICAN tools employ the metric system. Plus, converting between metric and imperial measurements is quite simple. Online calculators can do the job with a couple of clicks. One inch equals 2.45 centimeters—easy as that.
Interestingly, only three countries use the imperial system: the United States, Liberia, and Myanmar. Surprising? Not really. Metric measurements make more sense than imperial. I tend to think in feet and inches due to my upbringing. In perspective, over 90% of countries use the metric system; we’re the exception.
