#1: Respecting Personal Space
It’s surprising how often people invade your personal space. While maintaining a six-foot distance in line might not always be possible, isn’t a reasonable four feet good enough? Based on an NBC News interview with Edward Hall, the presence should be restricted to friends and acquaintances 1.5 to 4-foot range. If someone is closer, they better be family or your best friend.
Once someone is farther than four feet away, it’s considered public space, and we feel comfortable rather than invaded. However, in this situation, a person acted upset about basic human behavior and went to extremes to make a point, causing unnecessary drama for an adult.
