Simulation Theory: Preschool Edition
Are we living in a computer simulation? According to a four-year-old, the answer is a resounding yes. The story takes an unexpectedly philosophical turn when the storyteller’s son shares his profound insights. Casually and matter-of-factly, the young child initiates the conversation by positing that we all inhabit a “pretend world” and that “someone is playing with us.”

It’s as if this four-year-old stumbled upon the secrets of existence before dinnertime, possibly after watching The Matrix. Intrigued, the storyteller encourages their child to expound on these musings, and the child proceeds to offer a calm explanation of how the entity controlling our simulated selves remains invisible because they exists in a separate world. It’s as though this young philosopher has cracked the code of the universe.
