Late-Night Television
If you’ve ever watched “The Poltergeist,” you’ll likely remember the iconic scene featuring a young girl sitting in front of a TV screen filled with static, repeatedly saying, “They’re here.” It’s a horrifying moment, even though it’s fictional. Well, in this case, it was not entirely fictional. The storyteller experienced their “Poltergeist” moment while babysitting their four-year-old cousin.

They couldn’t figure out how to turn off the TV, leaving it displaying eerie black-and-white static. Instead of offering assistance or showing concern, the young cousin delved into a creepy mode. Fixated on the screen, they calmly informed our storyteller about the many monsters they could see. Kids certainly have a unique way of adding an extra dose of spookiness to any situation!
