Beyond the Grave
As one storyteller discovered, taking a toddler for a leisurely walk through a cemetery can lead to some rather eerie commentary. This particular storyteller works as a nanny and is responsible for looking after a young child learning to talk. In their local area, casually strolling through the cemetery seems quite normal. However, what sets this stroll apart is the child’s peculiar behavior.

Instead of the typical observations like butterflies and flowers, the toddler would point at gravestones and innocently exclaim, “Look, people!” Given the context of this toddler’s afternoon walk through a cemetery, it’s hard to assign blame. It could be that she was genuinely seeing something otherworldly above the graves, or perhaps she was merely using her limited vocabulary to express the concept of people being buried in the ground. Both interpretations remain entirely plausible.
