Are We Still Talking About the Same Thing?
Six hours for a single story does sound like a marathon of conversation. It’s safe to assume that there were likely numerous detours and tangents along the way, delving into various “this” and “that” topics. By the end of such a lengthy tale, there’s only so much nodding and enthusiastic “wow!” and “That’s amazing, what happened next?” one can muster before feeling emotionally drained.
The real question here is how some people have the energy to sustain such prolonged conversations. As someone aptly said, “You spend the first three years encouraging your kid to talk and the next fifteen encouraging them to let you talk.” If you’re fortunate, your child will grow up and put their rhetorical skills to good use.
