We may never uncover the truth, as children tend to be notoriously tight-lipped about such matters. Even if they were to divulge their motives, there’s no guarantee that their accounts would be accurate or that they fully comprehend the motivations behind their actions.
In any case, one thing’s for sure: I’m not about to take responsibility for cleaning up that mess. Instead, I might turn it into a playful game and see if they willingly take on the task themselves.
