Love Lock Bridge
Paris’s Pont des Arts Bridge became famous for the thousands of “love locks” attached to its railings by couples from around the world. Each lock symbolized eternal love, with the keys thrown into the River Seine.

However, the weight of the locks—totaling over 45 tons—became too much for the bridge to bear, and in 2015, city officials removed all the locks to prevent structural damage. Today, the bridge remains lock-free, but the romantic tradition lives on in other locations around the world, reminding couples of the enduring symbol of love.
