The Underwater Amazon
Near Raja Ampat in Indonesia, a spectacular underwater ecosystem known as the “Underwater Amazon” once thrived. This coral reef, filled with vibrant marine life, was one of the most beautiful and biodiverse in the world.

Unfortunately, in 2017, a British cruise ship veered off course and crashed into the reef, causing significant damage to 1,600 square meters of coral. Experts believe it could take up to 100 years for the reef to recover fully, if at all. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of natural wonders and the lasting consequences of human error.
