The Sutro Baths
The Sutro Baths were once a magnificent aquatic complex in San Francisco, featuring a collection of saltwater and freshwater pools. Opened in 1896 by Adolph Sutro, the city’s former mayor, this extravagant facility became a popular destination for both locals and tourists.

However, by the 1960s, the costs of maintaining the massive pools became too much. The baths closed in 1964 and were soon after devastated by a fire in 1966, leaving only the ruins that remain today. What was once a vibrant public attraction has become little more than a historical curiosity, as nature slowly overtakes it.
