The Old Man of the Mountain
The Old Man of the Mountain was a natural rock formation in New Hampshire’s White Mountains that resembled the profile of a man’s face. For centuries, it was a beloved symbol of the state, even appearing on New Hampshire’s license plates and state emblem.

However, in 2003, the face of the Old Man collapsed due to natural erosion, much to the sorrow of locals and visitors alike. Though efforts were made to preserve the rock, nature ultimately had the final say, and the Old Man of the Mountain is now only a memory.
